Durian (non-standard spelling: duren) is an edible fruit from a number of tree species belonging to the genus Durio, which has 29 identified species, at least nine of which produce edible fruit. The only kind available on the global market is Durio zibethinus, a native species of Kalimantan and Sumatra. In 2021, it had over 300 named types in Thailand and over 200 in Malaysia. The native range is where other species are sold.
